In a wedding ceremony of epic proportion where no expense has been spared, Wayne Rooney, the England and Manchester United striker, is preparing to exchange vows and wedding rings with Coleen McLoughlin in the Italian coastal town of Portofino. The amount the football star and his bride to be have spent on wedding rings, dresses and the venue is much speculated upon but, according to the report in the Guardian, the wedding is set to cost the football star in excess of £5 million. Half of this amount, however, is said to have been covered by a magazine willing to pay £2.5 million for the exclusive rights to the wedding ceremony and exchanging of wedding rings between the pair.
Wedding Rings – No Expense Spared
When it comes to lavish lifestyles, few are more extravagant than footballers with their spending and this certainly seems to be the case in the wedding ceremony of Wayne Rooney and Coleen McLoughlin in Portofino, Italy. Not content with spending a reported £200,000 on the wedding dress, Wayne Rooney also splashed the cash with the wedding rings and it is reported that the precocious football talent commissioned two bespoke wedding rings from a jeweller in New York for a cost in excess of £100,000.
Wedding Rings – Romance is Dead?
According to the report in the Guardian, Wayne Rooney managed to convince Coleen McLoughlin that exchanging nuptials and wedding rings was a good idea despite popping the question in the forecourt of a BP garage and celebrating with sausage and beans at his mother’s house. This, however, was the only part of the wedding process that wasn’t extremely lavish and few couples can claim to have shelled out almost half a million pounds on a wedding dress and wedding rings alone.
